With Kinfolk I, already working as a graphic designer, realised magazines could breathe and have white space in a considerate layout just as book layouts can, and that there was enough interest to put them on the market.

Riposte Magazine stands out visually with its bold design. The magazine often uses striking and vibrant colour blocks, clean typography, and dynamic layouts, capturing attention from the first glance. Each issue is defined by a seamless blend of sans-serif fonts with serif styles, paired with powerful photography that stands out.

The Happy Reader, a bookish magazine for avid readers , from Penguin, is a very beautifully designed and comfortably sized magazine about reading.

This is an image of Butt magazine, designed by Jop van Bennekom, on a blog post being written at The End Creative Agency in Sydney to showcase its unique layout and connection to Monocle’s refined magazine design.

Monocle magazine has been in my editorial design inspiration board for perhaps 10 years and it still relevant. Its notorious agility around the grid, type selection, little graphic devices that sprinkle the page, intricated column system and how they’ve brought editorial illustration back to life is fascinating.
